Many of you know Denean through her earlier recordings Fire Prayer, The Weaving and Thunder. A very popular song on the internet is Denean's Angels Calling Me from The Weaving. Angels Calling Me gained its wide recognition in part from a NASA Hubble Space Telescope video that was created by someone (we don't know who) many years ago and distributed without any acknowledgement as to the origin and artist behind the beautiful music that was a part of that presentation. Denean discovered this later on and has tried to let her fans know that she was indeed the composer and artist of that work. The Angels Calling Me Segue, also extremely popular, is from The Weaving as well. It is a slower hauntingly beautiful reminiscent echo of the original Angels Calling Me song. For your listening and viewing pleasure we have included the NASA Hubble Space Telescope Presentation with "Angels Calling Me" from The Weaving here on this website. We hope you enjoy it!
Denean's more recent releases include Calling the Sacred, Reikidama, Breath of Angels, The Farmer’s Daughter, Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence (An Instrumental Christmas Album), Ave Maria (a CD Single) and Threads of a Greater Tapestry, A Live Musical Presentation. Calling The Sacred is a return to Native American influences and is a prayer for the times and a celebration of life! Reikidama™ is a combination of teaching, meditation, and music. Reikidama™ was inspired by the sacred sounds associated with the names of the healing symbols used in Reiki. Learn more about Reikidama™. read more...

CALLING THE SACRED is a prayer for the times...a prayerful intention for the return to joy and a celebration for living life joyfully! Denean takes us with her to the realm of spirit to dance and pray with the thunder beings, the eagle people, the wolf people and the angelic realm. Calling The Sacred honors all that is sacred, including Grandmother Earth and including ourselves.
"In the creation of "CALLING THE SACRED", Denean has taken years of instruction in Lakota music and language to a sacred space. I hear the angels and sacred beings that communicate with our world through her vocals and musical arrangements in this new work. I recommend "CALLING THE SACRED" to any individual who wants a little help touching one's own sacred being. It is a breath of fresh air and a good dance with the divine."
HOWARD P. BAD HAND - A Lakota Song Man, Spiritual Teacher and Sun Dance leader.
Winner of the 2000 NM "MIC" Awards
"BEST PRODUCER"
"Denean's music, as much as the unspeakable "Great Mystery" can be pointed to in sound and lyric, captures THAT, calling forth the Spirit with a humility that pierces the heart..."The Farmers Daughter" is a collage of contemporary, very intimate poetry put to her mesmerizing compositions, ALA a 21st century RUMI. It's authentic, full of human simplicity yet transcendent. Multiple listens recommended!"
ALAN HUTNER-HOST/PRODUCER
"TRANSITIONS RADIO MAGAZINE"
"Denean has a clear, lovely, and touching voice, and when she is using it to sing her Native American-flavored country songs, there is no one like her!"
STEPHEN SCHWARTZ -SONGWRITER/LYRICIST DISNEY'S "POCAHONTAS" DREAMWORKS' "PRINCE OF EGYPT"
"Denean's Breath of Angels mesmerizes me. The first time I heard it, I had to hear it right to the end. The piano made me feel as if I were surrounded by angels." RAY VINELLA, ARTIST
"Denean's 'Ave Maria' is as much a prayer and affirmation as it is a song rich with vocal power and instrumentation. Her work speaks to the soul. It can be enjoyed as music or as a tool for meditation and well being." GARY COOK, ACADEMY HEAD, VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS, UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO-TAOS.
The "heart" of this CD is a meditation piece called "Reikidama™". Reikidama™ comes from the word "Reiki" and the word "kotodama". Kotodama is a Reiki practice lesser known to the western world of Reiki. Kotodama means "word spirit" or "jeweled words". Also included is another song inspired by Reiki called "Hands of Dancing Light", "Spiral", and a "Hatsurei-ho Meditation".
"I have received your Reikidama CD which I must say is the Best Reiki CD I have ever heard! I have been listening everyday and I just love it! It just takes me into a different space."

Breath of Angels was inspired by the Angel of Music, Israfel as a means to help human kind at this frantic time on earth when inner quiet is so desperately needed. This piano/“soft” vocal album helps the listener to calm body, mind, and spirit to open the way to true healing. It can also help to calm infants, making it wonderful angel baby music :-) For those of you who are new to Denean’s music, it is indeed inspiring and healing music for deep meditation and relaxation, expressing Native American spiritual themes as well as the angelic ones.
In fact, you may often find Denean’s earlier releases listed in the Native American section when exploring Indian music online. However, Denean likes to make the distinction that she considers her music an expression of her experiences with Native American music, spirituality and culture. Although of some Native American ancestry herself, Denean makes this distinction out of respect for the culture’s rich traditional music and spiritual heritage.
Music for meditation and relaxation does not always have to be instrumental, and you will find much of Denean’s work centered around her powerful vocals and harmonies. We invite you to check out the song samples on the album details pages!
We hope you enjoy your visit to this site and find something here that truly nourishes your spirit. And now, a message from Denean:

Hello. Welcome to my website. My intention has always been to offer music that nourishes the spirit...to open pathways to higher states of awareness. Music, as a means of Divine worship creates a bridge between our deepest knowing and the world of the unseen. It is music that helps us to remember where we come from; music is the language of Spirit. Did you know that within the Lakota tradition, the holy people are known as "singers"?
In my creative process there have been many factors that play a part in the influence and inspiration of the music I write. Although I have never talked about it much (other than in the words of the songs themselves), angels have always been present. As I sit down to the piano and center myself for the inspiration to flow from the Divine, it is as though a doorway to angelic realms opens before me. It has been a completely natural experience for me for as long as I can remember and there has never been any conscious effort to make anything happen. They are just always there. I would like to thank Israfel (Arch Angel of Music), Gabriel, Raphael and a host of others for always inspiring, protecting, and sharing their love for humanity. I am so grateful for the blessings they have shared.
"Tao / Mitakuwe Oyas’in", (that you see as the theme of my newsletter, is a combination of two words that represent philosophies that have also greatly influenced my spiritual journey and my music. Tao means "the way" or "the path". Mitakuwe Oyas’in (sometimes spelled "Mitakuye Oyasin") is Lakota for "all of my relations included" or "all of my relations". It is often used as a closing or blessing. So, together you have a path or way of relating appropriately with ourselves and with our relations. When we all relate harmoniously with each other , everyone involved receives the blessing.
Tao is the way of spiritual truth and virtue in its highest expression and the Lakota forms of ceremony and ritual are simply a way in which I have given expression to this truth over the years as a means of focus and centering. The inner truth is always the highest expression; the forms are simply the tools we use in our organic world to align ourselves with this truth.
I find at this particular place in my life journey, that I am being called to expand the vision of my work...to teach and share the way of Tao, a path to inner calm...inner stillness and appropriate relationship. This inner quiet is the single greatest need of the human spirit. The vision is a bringing together of music, teaching, meditation and process...an experiential journey...for it is through our experience that we make the Truth our own.
Most recently, upon the discovery of the "sacred sounds" of the Reiki symbols, I was profoundly blessed and guided by Spirit in the creation of Reikidama™. Reikidama™ comes from the word "Reiki" and the word "kotodama". Kotodama is a Reiki practice lesser known to the western world of Reiki. Kotodama means "word spirit" or "jeweled words".
This creation has indeed expanded the vision even more and is itself expressing the original vision. It continues to be a blessing and healing in my own life. Click on the link if you wish to learn more about Reikidama™.
Calling The Sacred took seven years to bring to birth and has been a very sacred journey for me personally. It is a genuine prayer for every listener who is seeking a return to joy and celebration of life. Calling The Sacred is also a return for me musically to the Native influences that have been so profoundly impacting my life over the years.
This website is a "work-in-progress", unfolding as the vision unfolds. I hope that you will continue to "check in" often and join me on this journey. I pray that you may be blessed this day with a contented heart of quiet, wordless, self-contained joy.
Mitakuwe Oyas'in,
(translation: We are all related)
